Finding a Job During A Pandemic

1/6/2023

It’s no secret that the global pandemic has changed our lives drastically. We’ve seen economies crumble, businesses close, and countless people have been out of work as a result. But despite all of this adversity, there is hope on the horizon. Recovery from the pandemic is now underway in many countries, with restrictions lifting and job opportunities reopening.

The transition to recovery can be both an exciting and overwhelming experience for those who have lost their jobs or had their income reduced due to the pandemic. It can be difficult to figure out where to start when it comes to getting back on your feet financially, especially when you don’t know what kind of job opportunities are available in your area.

The best thing you can do during this time is take proactive steps towards finding a job. First and foremost, update your resume and create a LinkedIn profile that highlights your skills and experiences. If you’re not sure what kinds of jobs are available right now, do some research online or contact local employment agencies who may be able to give you more information about available positions in your area. Additionally, make sure you’re keeping up with industry trends by subscribing to relevant newsletters and participating in webinars or conferences so that you stay informed about what employers are looking for in new hires.

Finally, take some time for self-care as you go through this transition period into recovery. While it’s important to focus on finding a job, don’t forget to carve out time for yourself each day so that you can stay motivated and refreshed as you look for new opportunities. Self-care will help ensure that you approach every interview feeling prepared and ready to make the most of it!

Recovery from the pandemic doesn’t have to feel daunting – just remember that if you keep an open mind, remain focused on your goals, and prioritize self-care along the way, then anything is possible!

Everyone makes mistakes in life, especially when you are living with an  active addiction of any kind. One misstep or bad choice will cause you to  feel worthless to everyone around you.

This is the exact time when you will need to embrace the friends and family member’s who love and support you.
Reach out to these faithful loved ones and be truthful about how your life is becoming unmanageable and messy due to your drug or drink of choice.

Additionally, you will need to seek out your God or your higher power, since you will be entering recovery for drugs or alcohol which is terrifying at first. These courageous first steps will allow you a second chance to build the life you truly want.

Start by getting professional help for the mental health issues and your addictions. You may learn that you are actually self- medicating due to an unaddressed anxiety issue or a serious depression problem. Honestly, you  even find the strength to begin a new journey in recovery.

Next, find a local Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous group to free become a member of in your community. There are many different types of recovery groups on Facebook, as well as recovery websites with their own private online support communities.

Be truthful about needing help with an active addiction and any mental issues you may be facing. Chase recovery everyday and soon you’ll be able to hold your head up with joy surrounding your heart.

Click, Click Boom

There are going to be times when you will find out certain things that may hurt or upset you about someone you love. Focus on maintaining your composure and gather your thoughts before you decide to react to the revelation. Sometimes, you must deal with the pain of knowing the truth. Stay silent, but inside you are putting different things together about a person that you have never noticed before.

Each new frame that rolls in your mind will be different snapshots and memories that you have stored in your mind over time. As the pictures, conversations, and actions begin to line up perfectly like a jigsaw puzzle. Honestly, you are now fast approaching an uncontrollable angry explosion, which is known as a click, click...boom moment! Unfortunately, you know the truth based on your own perception of what you have seen or heard.

These thoughts stir up your anger, while you fight to hold back the spontaneous combustion that you know is quickly coming. Stop allowing these thoughts to dominate your mind, instead distract yourself with watching funny videos or listening to upbeat music. Don’t focus on the pain you feel, instead be thankful that you now know the absolute truth and start changing your part in the narrative of your story.

Walk away and let it go, because it is not healthy to hold anger in or to allow it to fester due to the pain you feel at this moment. Stay strong and keep moving away from them, until you are no longer part of their life. Try to identify or learn what triggers your angry outbursts and try to avoid the pitfalls that will only cause you more pain.

Enjoy Life

Life is fickle don't you think? Sometimes you could just get up in the morning and you don't feel like doing much. But the thing you are not aware of is while you were up and are completely indecisive about what to do with your morning, somewhere, someone didn't get the chance to wake up just as you did.

Waking up every day is indeed a blessing and a cause. How are you? How is your heart? You don't need to answer out loud that's really a rhetorical question but I would appreciate of you could ponder on that for a second or two before you get up to do anything this morning.

Do you feel better today? Do you think you can get through another day? It would be really amazing if you could. You're a fighter. You shouldn't let yourself down. There is still so much that you have to offer this world that you cannot see. Could you open your eyes to see the true beauty that you possess? This isn't meant to be flattering or anything but really, you should take a second to stare at yourself in the mirror.

Look at you. A masterpiece. A beautiful work of art that doesn't need the validation of anybody to feel WHOLE. Have you perhaps been feeling broken lately? Please don't. You really shouldn't put yourself in that situation. See the naked truth is, you feel like you're not doing your most. You think you don't have your life all figured out like the pizza guy who delivers pizza or the man in his suit driving out on his way to work. But you might be overlooking something. Nobody has it all figured out. We are just screw ups, trying to appear like lesser screw ups.

The real question is are you going to let your past screw ups get in the way of your present and future? You're feeling down right now hit truly ask yourself is there anything wrong with the moment? You would realise that you're letting the baggage of the past affect the present that has nothing wrong with it. You have two options here, forget your past, throw it out like used cabbage and embrace the present or you lay in bed all day and think of every reason in the world not to get up and have a great day. The ball is in your court but it would be really great if you realised just how phenomenal you truly are and how blessed the world is to have you. You are a fire that cannot he quenched and you need to see yourself in that light.

Come on! You need to love yourself. You need to understand that you are worth so much more. Get up! Take a walk! Listen to some music you love! Have some food you really like for breakfast! Watch a tv show that makes you happy. Read the news today!

Sometimes it appears like the world is such a bug place and not everybody can be reached but you can reach your core. And it doesn't take so much to truly connect to who you are. What do you think?

Do Unto Others

Remember to do unto others as you want done to you. This is hard once you've been hurt by someone. Especially when they do you wrong or betray you without any remorse.

As my best friend once said, “Two wrongs don’t make a right.” He was right because despite their actions, you should never retaliate against them. Instead of getting even, try walking away and let them know they hurt you.

Only you can stop the craziness that happens when certain people are around you. Be kind to everyone around you, but set strict limits that keep them from hurting you over and over again.

Don’t allow someone to walk all over you because they may be your family members or close friends. Say no and mean it! However, be respectful as well, since you have a close relationship with them.

Try to explain what they did that hurt or betrayed you in a calm manner despite their attitude. Be clear and quickly get to the point you are trying to make.

Then, try to resolve the issue or keep away from this person. At least until there is a resolution that is respectful and heartfelt. This way, you will find out the truth about this person before they really do major emotional damage.

Repel Drama

You will struggle to find your new normal again while in recovery. This means establishing your own personal boundaries with friends and family. These new limits may cause a person to get angry. Always steer clear of all drama and negativity which is brought by toxic people. These types of people will bring drama right to your doorstep, due to not getting their way with you.

Unfortunately, this can be a family member or friend who you love and adore. However, they are just using you for things they need or want like money. These types of people will try to destroy your peace with unnecessary drama. Especially when you decide to lay protective boundaries for yourself and your personal stuff. However, you can easily spot these types of people, because they will become immediately when you say no.

As soon as you say no, then the negativity and drama begins immediately because they are angry. This person will begin to make you feel like the bad guy automatically and try to cause trouble in your life until they get their way. Instead of getting depressed or angry, be proud of yourself for standing your ground with this type of person. Start paying attention to people's behavior, which will tell you exactly what kind of person they are during your attempt to set healthy boundaries. Now that you know who is a toxic person, be sure to immediately begin following the steps that are needed to remove the person from your life.

Your Sober, Now What?

Congratulations on successfully escaping your addiction and joining thousands of others who are on the road to recovery. However, rejoining society after a stint in rehab, jail, or self-imposed isolation can be very difficult at times. Everywhere you turn, you will see something that reminds you of your time spent in the grip of your addiction. Just breathe throughout each temptation and keep moving forward, while reminding yourself that you don’t live there anymore.

Never allow yourself to become overwhelmed by the temptation you will face in society, instead let it empower you. Walk away and smile, because you have just won another huge victory in your personal recovery! You may feel alone or like you have lost everyone, but the truth is you have gained yourself throughout the storm of addiction and that is more valuable than 100 fake friends. Make new friends who can encourage you whenever you feel weak, especially if you do not have a sponsor through your rehab or AA program.

You will run into the people that you used with, but you must remind yourself that they were never your friend in the first place. Always remember that they used you to feed their addiction too, by making sure you stayed hooked on whatever substance you used and they probably pushed you to share. Ask yourself, have you heard from them since you started your journey to become sober? Have they even bothered to call and check up on you or have they just distanced themselves from you?

Don’t give into temptation because you run in to an old so-called friends that still uses and asks if you want to get high or drunk. Temptation is all around you when you are trying to avoid alcohol, because of the television commercials and stores you visit every day. You must cling to your higher power and just breathe through it and get away from the situation as soon as you can. One day, the temptation will not be as strong; instead you will be able to handle it without falling apart inside.

Stay away from the old places you used to frequent where the dealers hang out, even if it is your work place or the neighborhood store. Do not be afraid to change your entire routine or get a new job, if you have to in order to remain sober and in recovery. You did whatever it took to get high or drunk, now dig deep and do what you got to do to stay clean. Raise your head high and be proud of yourself, because you are learning how to cope with and beat your addiction…one day at a time!

Tips on Getting Sober

1/5/2023

The road to sobriety and recovery can be a difficult journey. From breaking the cycle of addiction to rebuilding one’s life, many individuals who have suffered from substance abuse or dependence must go through a variety of steps to achieve their desired outcome. However, the path towards sobriety and recovery is never linear - it takes a lot of effort and determination.

When embarking on this journey, it’s important to realize that there is no “right way” to get sober. What works for some may not work for others. Each person has different needs and different strengths, so what might work for one individual might not be the best solution for another. It’s also important to understand that everyone progresses differently - while some may experience quick success in their efforts, others may take much longer. There is no “magic pill” when it comes to getting sober; every individual will have a unique approach and timeline in reaching his or her goals.

There are many available resources that can help people with addiction problems on their road to recovery. A 12-step program is often considered the most common type of intervention used for those dealing with alcohol or drug addiction; other organizations like Alcoholics Anonymous provide community support for individuals struggling with substance abuse disorders. Mental health professionals such as psychologists and social workers can also help people come up with strategies for living a healthier lifestyle. Additionally, treatment centers can provide both short-term residential programs as well as outpatient services, depending on the individual’s specific needs.
