Tips on Pet Safety

It's fair to say that owning a pet is line handling and taking care of a child. To properly care for pets, some strict rules and guidelines need to be followed. For example, the same you put your seatbelt on while driving is the same way a pet should be latched securely on its seat to avoid accidents or injuries if an accident might occur.

Dogs are naturally intuitive animals that love to move around. imagine having a dog in your vehicle without using proper safety precautions, that could lead to lots of unwanted problems. 

From small pets to big pets, they all should be properly restrained when in the vehicle. When pets are not properly restrained in vehicles it increases their chances of getting airborne diseases or even causing a collision and you wouldn't want that would you?

It is advisable to get a carrier, and crates harnessed for four pets to secure their safety in the car. And if you don't have any of these, it is better to leave your pet at home where it is safer. 

Studies have shown that the temperature inside the car when locked is higher than the temperature outside the car. For instance, if the temperature outside the car is 70 degrees hot, the temperature inside the car would be 110 degrees hotter  which is what makes it very unsafe to have your pet locked up in the car while you run your errands. It could lead to the untimely demise of your pet.

  • Give your pet space
  • Harness your pet 
  • Use a pet barrier
  • Use a crate 
  • Never put a pet in the front seat
  • Microchip and identity your pet with a customized leash or a name tag
  • Don't let your pets put any parts of their bodies outside your vehicle 
  • Always carry a water bowl
  • Don't feed your pet when the vehicle is moving
  • Use a liner or cargo mat
  • Use a mat or travel bed
  • Give your pet breaks 
  • Make sure to take your dogs on walks before a trip
  • Never leave your pet alone in the car
  • Know how to get a vet
  • Don't get distracted by other pets that you forget about your own pets
